Why is Disappearing inc. the best place to undo my tattoo?
At Disappearing inc. we’re proud to be the first and only ones in Boston to specialize exclusively in tattoo removal. Because we’re not a spa or a salon, we get you. We understand that the reason you got your tattoo is as personal as the reason you now want it removed.
When a medspa looks at a tattoo, they see an aesthetic procedure. When a dermatologist looks at a tattoo, they see a medical procedure. When we look at a tattoo, we see it as a Venn diagram. First we look at the person’s skin, the laser’s capabilities and, most importantly, the ink. Because there is enormous variability in tattoo ink, one needs to have a deep understanding of ink to know how to remove a tattoo.
We have spent more time than anyone else learning about ink, how it reacts and how best to remove it. The laser is just a tool. It needs to be in the right hands for you to get the results that you want.
How does laser tattoo removal work?
Using the Quanta Q Plus C Laser, the best laser available, a laser pulse is aimed at the tattoo and passes harmlessly through the skin. The laser targets the tattoo pigment, leaving the surrounding skin virtually untouched. The energy from the beam is transferred to the ink which breaks into small particles and is removed from the body by the immune system. For a more detailed explanation, click here.
Who will do the removal?
The laser tattoo removal will be performed by a licensed laser technician who is trained and certified, specifically for this type of procedure.
How many treatments will it take to remove my tattoo?
This is our most commonly asked question and the hardest to answer without seeing the tattoo, that is why we offer a FREE consultation to give you all the information you need to make your decision.
The average time to remove a professionally applied tattoo ranges from 9 months to 18 months. Some tattoos take longer, some come off faster. Either way by buying the Undo your Tattoo Guarantee, regardless of how long it takes, you will get what you came here for; complete removal of your tattoo for a confirmed price.
How long do I need to wait between treatments?
Generally about 6-8 weeks for the body to remove the ink and to completely heal the area.
Can you remove 100% of every tattoo?
We wish we could, but anyone who tells you otherwise is trying to sell you a service they cannot provide. We can remove most tattoos 100%, but unfortunately not all (this is why not all tattoos qualify for the Undo Your Tattoo Guarantee). It depends on many factors (see “How many treatments will it take to remove my tattoo?” answer above). In addition, there are many, many types of tattoo inks in use worldwide today, none of which are regulated by the FDA.
That being said, Disappearing inc. can remove more tattoos and colors than others because of our Quanta Q Plus C Laser. The Q-Plus C is the only Q-switched laser platform which combines a Nd:YAG Laser with a Ruby Laser. Providing all three Laser wavelengths (1064 nm/532 nm /694 nm) achieves the highest possible energies, effectively targeting all tattoo colors including blues and greens.
This is why we provide a FREE consultation so you know all the facts before you start the process. We want to ensure you have all the information you need to make the right decision for you.
Will it hurt?
Because we are the tattoo removal experts, and it’s all we do, we make sure to make the process is as painless as possible. We use a state-of-the-art Zimmer Cooling machine to cool the skin to 20° C before and during the process, minimizing the discomfort.
Our certified laser techs will make sure that you have the best experience with the removal.
Will it scar?
The chances of scarring are very small (less than 5%) if all the after-care instructions are followed. These include:
- For the first 24 hours – Apply ice if you feel discomfort and avoid the sun and swimming.
- After the first 24 hours – Keep the area clean and out of the sun for the time while it is healing.
Do you use a Pico laser?
No we don’t and there are some very good reasons we don’t:
Pico technology is still very new and the laser companies are still working out some of the kinks. One of our competitors bought the first Pico laser on the market and they are now trying to sell it because it just didn’t perform as promised (as a matter of fact, the company that produced it, Cynosure, is being sued for false claims of efficacy).
Pico technology is 2-3 times as expensive as Q-switched technology which means we would need to charge you 2-3 times more per treatment. This would make sense if we could guarantee that your tattoo could be removed 2-3 times faster, but this has not been the case. In fact, companies have now realized that pico technology is actually not as effective as Q-switched technology in the early stages of the removal process and is now being recommended only for the later stages.
Ultimately, it’s not the laser that does the removal, it’s the person holding the laser. We have developed a protocol that removes tattoos better than anyone else – that’s the Disappearing inc. Undo Your Tattoo Guarantee.
